With Great Sadness We Announce…

The passing of our beloved Bernadette L. Barron

Bernadette L. Barron, 78, of Champion, Pa, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2024 in Greene Health and Rehabilitation Center, Greensburg. A daughter of the late Bernard and Mildred (Mutich) Barron, she was born in North Charleroi on December 13, 1945.
She was a graduate of Bellmar High School (1963) and Point State Park College.
Bernie was "larger than life". She started out her illustrious career as a buyer for Kaufmann's at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, then became a travel agent for Fletcher's Travel in Brentwood where she had the opportunity to travel extensively all over the world, including multiple trips to Hawaii. From there, she was offered a job as a manager of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Washington D.C. and did occasional business traveling for two years.
After retiring her "work" suitcase, she and her brother were co-owners and operators of the former Barron's Floral and Landscaping in Champion for over 40 years. There she was known for her flair for designing uniquely beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements and creative venue decorating, especially at Seven Springs and at her brother's Barron's Red Silo. Bernie had the ability to magically transform an empty room or banquet hall into a 50's Sock Hop or a Winter Wonderland or anything in between. She shared her passion for floral design by teaching at Westmoreland County Community College for several years.
Bernie was compassionate and generous and treated everyone with respect and dignity.
She was formally on the Board of Directors at Westmoreland Hospital for many years. During this time, being an avid golfer herself, she was the chairman of golf tournaments to benefit the hospital that included lady golfers from the lady's professional golf team and also of two Pittsburgh Pirates Alumni golf tournaments to benefit The American Cancer Society.
She loved to dance and could be spotted on the dance floors of the Pittsburgh Jitterbug Club.
In addition to organizing her 50th high school reunion, she hosted several fabulous family reunions that included lamb or pig roasts for both the Barron and Mutich families.
Family was so very important to her. In fact, some of her last words to a cousin were " Always remember, I love all of you!" Bernadette, we will always love you.
She is survived by many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Richard (Dick) Barron.
Friends will be received on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at the Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematory, 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 10 am with Father David Hyatt officiating.
